Indefinite article
Articles are divided into two parts.
They are indefinite article and definite article.
The indefinite article (a and an)
a is used before consonant or vowel that its sound as consonant sounds.
Examplea:
a car a woman
a university a useful thing
an is used before vowel sound ( a, e, i, o, u ) or h
silence letter.
Examples:
an hour
an egg an apple an actor
a and an are used for all genders.
Examples:
a boy
a girl an actor an
actress
a car an
animal
Indefinite article is used with material noun.
Examples:
-Have a glass of wine?
-I’ve got a paper.
-I use an iron.
We can say a week, a year, a kilo, a month, a day
Examples:
-She works eight hours a day, six day a week.
-How much are those potatoes ? $2 a kilo.
-How often do you go to the cinema? About once a month.
a can also with “ few
and little”
-I have a few friends in Bangkok.
-we have a
little time.
